What is Morse code?
  • Morse code is a method of communication that
    relies on the transmitting of an alphabet
    constructed from dots and dashes.

How is Morse code transmitted?
  • electrical pulses along a telegraph wire
  • an audio tone
  • as a radio signal with short and long pulses or
    tones
  • as a mechanical or visual signal e.g. a flashing
    light.

  • Samual Morse invented Morse Code
  • 1837 - Morse invented the electrical telegraph
  • 1836 - Morse finished his first working sample of
    the telegraph.
  • 1838 - Morse changed the telegraphic symbols,
    from a telegraphic dictionary with number code to
    a code for each letter.
  • 1844 - Morse sent the telegraph message "What
    hath God wrought" Washington, D.C. to his
    assistant, in Baltimore, Maryland.
