  ways of working as a means of improving patient
  services

• Development of the Emergency Care Practitioner
  role
• Development of other roles, identified from
  process mapping / CWP Toolkit Workshops etc.

Process Map

• Mark is 14, he lives in Hillcrest in
  Warwickshire. At 1600 one Saturday he lacerated
  his left leg while playing football.
• The laceration is superficial and 10cm in
  length.
• His parents and an ambulance are called at 1605.

Emergency Care Practitioners

• 3 Paramedics to access nursing courses
• 3 AE Nurses to access paramedic course
• All students to then access degree level
  practitioner course
• This testing will highlight the skills
  competencies needed by the Emergency Care
  Practitioner

• Patients will be treated at scene.
• Reduced queues in AE etc.
• Fewer faces more continuity
• Smoother progression through system
