HISTORY
  • The first settlers of New Zealand were Eastern
    Polynesians. These settlers developed into a
    distinct culture now known as Mãori.
  • The British goverment sent william Hosboson to
    New Zealand to claim sovereignty and negotiate a
    treaty with Maori, on 6 febuary 1840.
  • In 1907, New Zealand became and independent
    Dominion and a fully independent nation in 1947.
    was ratified,although in practice Britain had
    ceased to play any real role in the government of
    New Zeland much earlier than this.

GEOGRAFY
  • New Zealand is a country in the south-western
    Pacific comprising two large islands (North
    Island and the South Island)and numerous smaller
    islands.
  • New Zealand is separated from Australia to the
    northwest by the Tasman Sea. New Zealand is part
    of Zealandia, a continent nearly half the size of
    Australia that is otherwise almost comletely
    submerged.

    hunting and pressure from introduced feral
    animals, such as cats and goats.
