8Replenishment Terms
- Underway Replenishment (UNREP)
- any method of transferring fuel, ammunition, and
stores from one ship to another - Replenishment at Sea (RAS)
- same as above except for transfer of fuel
- Fueling at Sea (FAS)
- any method of transferring fuel
9Replenishment Terms
- Connected Replenishment (CONREP)
- a method of transferring fuel, ammunition, and
stores from one ship to another through lines and
hoses connecting the two ships. - Vertical Replenishment (VERTREP)
- a method of transferring ammunition and stores
from one ship to another by helicopter
10Connected ReplenishmentMethods
- Cargo
- STREAM Method
- Highline Method
- Burton Method
- Housefall Method
- Fuel
- STREAM Method
- Astern Refueling Method
- Close-In Method
11STREAM
- Standard Tensioned REplenishment Alongside Method
- uses a tensioned spanwire to support the cargo
trolley or the fueling hose from the delivery
ship to the receiving ship

14Ram Tensioner
- Maintains tension on the spanwire.
- Continuously adjusts tension on the spanwire to
account for the motion of both ships.
15Sliding Padeye
16Replenishment Terms
- ROMEO CORPEN / ROMEO SPEED
- Replenishment Course and Speed
- Course and speed used during UNREP
17Replenishment Terms
- Control Ship
- Guide
- Responsible for staying on R CORPEN and SPEED
- usually the delivery ship except when receiving
ship is a carrier
18Replenishment Terms
- Approach Ship
- Responsible for making the approach on the
control ship
19Replenishment Terms
- Delivery Ship
- usually the control ship
- supplies fuel, ammunition or stores to the
receiving ship - Receiving Ship
- receives fuel, ammunition, or stores from the
supply ship
20Replenishment Procedures
- 3-4 days prior
- receiving ship submits a LOGREQ
- LOGREQ (Logistics Request)
- requests stores, fuel, parts
- LOGREQ reply
- name of delivery ship
- rendezvous location and time
- breakdown of supplies to be transferred
- expected R CORPEN/SPEED
21Replenishment Procedures
- Day of replenishment
- Rendezvous at appointed place and time
- Control ship
- takes tactical control of all ships to be
replenished - establishes R CORPEN/SPEED
- assigns stations and order of connected
replenishment

Control Ship
VERTREP Station anywhere within 5,000yds
of Delivery Ship except replenishment
station waiting station and lifeguard station
24Replenishment Formation
Control Ship
Approach Ship
500yds
1. Steady on R Corp/Spd 2. Making preps to
receive on starboard side
In waiting station
25In Waiting Station
- Examine the wake of control ship
- Your wake should be parallel / keep about 5yd
separation between wakes - Match speeds with control ship
- Determine Lateral Separation Using Radian Rule
26Lateral Separation
- 100-120 ft (30-40yds) for most combatants
- 150ft (50yds) for carriers / less maneuverable
ships
27Radian Rule

- Two methods
- Coast-in Method
- Slow to R Speed at a predetermined point and
coast in - Back Down Method
- All Back 2/3, then before ship slows too fast,
speed up engines to R Speed
