The Ontario Application Process
  • All Applications to OUAC
  • Ontario University Application Centre
  • Application cost - 100
  • For 3 programs
  • Additional programs 33
  • All applications are done on-line
  • You must have an access code and a password
    before you can do the application. These will
    arrive here in late November.
  • At home or in Guidance
  • Application deadline January 10, 2007
  • Should be done before Christmas holidays

Communication
  • Get an e-mail address before you apply (it should
    be appropriate)
  • Check it often after you apply
  • This is OUAC and the universities favorite way of
    communicating with you

  • Demographic information
  • Final marks of completed grade 11 and 12 courses
  • First and second semester courses you are
    currently signed up for
  • Community involvement and literacy test info
  • February
  • First semester final marks
  • Update semester 2 courses
  • April
  • Second semester mid term marks

  • Final second semester marks
  • Proof of graduation

Admission Requirements
  • Admission is based on your university admission
    average
  • Your 6 grade 12 U or M courses
  • ENG 4U1 is a must.
  • Different programs have different required
    courses
  • English, Math and Science
  • There are recommended courses as well for each
    program

Early Admission
  • You may be offered early admission before
    semester 2 mid-terms if
  • You have completed a number of university
    admission courses.
  • You have very good grade 11 marks.
  • Do not panic if you dont get early admission
  • It just means they are going to wait for your 4U
    and 4M semester 2 marks

Alternate offers of admission
  • Many schools will offer you admission to an
    alternate program if your marks are not high
    enough to get into your first choice.

One offer only from each school
  • Most schools will only consider you for one
    program at a time.
  • This will be the one you put highest on the
    application form
  • The second program will only be considered if you
    are not accepted to the first one.

Undergraduate Studies
  • In your first 3 or 4 years of university you are
    called an undergraduate and are usually earning a
    bachelor degree. (BA, BSc)
  • Once you have completed a bachelor degree you are
    a graduate and may pursue graduate studies i.e. a
    masters degree. (MA, MSc)

Faculties
  • When you apply, it is usually to a faculty
  • Faculty of Arts
  • Faculty of Social Science
  • Faculty of Science
  • You may be asked to indicate your subject of
    major interest i.e. Biology or Chemistry or use
    different codes for different choices within the
    faculty.
  • You are not tied down to this choice
  • Do not apply to the same faculty twice

Education
  • Consecutive
  • If you might want to teach but that isnt your
    only focus. Take a degree first and then apply to
    teachers college after.
  • Concurrent
  • If your purpose is to become a teacher. You will
    begin teacher training in your second year while
    you complete your degree.

  • These are degrees that are granted by Colleges.
  • They combine the theoretical education of the
    university with the more practical education of
    the college.
  • Admission is the same as for university (6, 4U or
    4M courses).
  • These are applied to through OCAS, not OUAC.

    admission courses rather than 6

  • You must authorize OUAC to release your info on
    your application
  • You must put your OUAC on the out-of-province

  • An SAT score is a likely requirement
  • Each school will set its own SAT score
  • The SAT can be written in London on a few select
    Saturdays
  • Registration well in advance is required
