in color with a velvet coat.
The okapi is like a forest giraffe. The
okapis neck is shorter than a giraffes and is
much smaller than a giraffe. The okapi is about
5 feet long at the shoulders and weighs about
450 to 550 lbs.
An okapi has a distinctive pattern of
horizontal stripes, similar to the zebras upper
legs.

uses to get leaves and for grooming. Its tongue
is so long it can even lick its eyes. The okapi
has white and dark brown striped hindquarters,
and dark hoofs with white lower legs. The
female okapi is actually a little bit taller
than the male okapi.

- The okapi is an endangered animal because they
accidentally get trapped in traps which are
really supposed to be for smaller animals. They
are also endangered because of damage to their
habitat.
