  • The epidermis keeps germs out while keeping body
    fluid in.

  • Contains the sweat glands, oil glands, and hair

  • Hair grows from hair follicles
  • The hair follicles are attached to the oil glands
  • Oil travels up the hairs to keep the skin soft
    and smooth.

Temperature
  • Warm-Skin brings blood closer to the surface of
    your skin (red face)
  • Cold-Goosebumps form when blood vessels narrow to
    keep blood away from the surface of the skin

Moisturizers
  • Skin loses water throughout the day. You have to
    use moisturizers to keep your skin from getting
    dry. Drinking lots of water also helps keep your
    skin from getting dry.

Soaps and Cleaners
  • Dry Skin
  • Always use a mild soap or cleanser, use soaps
    with a natural moisturizer. Never leave soaps or
    cleansers on your skin to drythis can dry out
    your skin.
  • Oily Skin
  • Dont use a harsh soap, these can irritate your
    skin. Use a mild soap instead.

  • Avoid wearing greasy make-up (girls)

Acne
  • Acne occurs when the oil glands produce extra oil
    which gets plugged in pores. Infected pores that
    are plugged may become a pimple from bacteria.
    When the oil reaches the skins surface it turns
    black (blackhead).

Sunburn
  • Sunburn is caused by not using sunscreen or being
    in the sun for to long
  • Avoid exposure from 10am to 2pm
  • Wear a hat
  • ALL water reflects and intensifies the suns rays

Sunscreen
  • SPF-Sun Protection Factor
  • Use a sunscreen with a 15 SPF or higher.
  • If you get a sunburn in 30 minutes a sunscreen
    with an SPF of 15 will protect you 15 times the
    protection. So it will protect you for 450
    minutes.
  • You should apply sunscreen every 2-3 hours.

  • Cellulitis
  • An infection in skin when you get a cut and you
    dont clean/care for your cut.
  • Cutaneous Anthrax
  • When a person with a cut handles an infected
    animal.
