(Moves) one space any direction (Rules) if king
is in check 1. The king has to move. 2. The
attacking piece is captured. 3. Another piece
moves between the king and the attacking
piece (Special moves) castling - The King moves
two squares toward the rook and the rook moves on
the other side of the king.

Pawn

• Can move only one space (twice on its first
  move)
• captures only diagonally.
• It cannot jump over pieces.

Rook

• It can move only horizontally or vertically if
  the squares are vacant.
• It can capture as it moves.
• It cannot jump over other pieces.

Bishop

• Moves
• Diagonally if the squares are vacant.
• Captures
• as it moves
• Rules
• cannot jump over pieces.
• Cannot change square color.

knight

• Moves
• two squares vertically and one square
  horizontally.
• Two squares horizontally and one square
  vertically
• it captures as it moves.
• Can jump over pieces.

Queen

• Moves
• horizontally,vertically, or on diagonal
• the queen is the most powerful piece.
