3- Research has shown that children learn
- when they are calm and relaxed. We
- therefore think having a place where
- children can read, listen to stories and
- unwind is of upmost importance.
4Rolling display board will give children the
opportunity to show their work. These boards will
also be linked to schools website. Children
will be able To plug their work straight into
the boards to instantly show off their work.
5To create a more flexible learning environment in
our school, we have decided to store the
resources such as digi-blue cameras, filming
equipment and iPods in the multimedia room but
allow them to be borrowed and used anywhere in
the school. They will be able to be taken out by
any child or teacher to use in their classroom,
using their ID bracelets or swipe cards.
6We believe in providing all children with the
opportunity to produce and create In their own
style. A sound-proof booth with appropriate
recording and editing Equipment would allow
children to create and produce their own
music. We would also use this to set-up
school. This would allow for children to share
good examples of work as well as discussing
Ideas e.g. School Council updates. Staff would
also be able to send key messages to children and
save paper Therefore improving the
environment. We could extend this idea further by
having an outdoor speaker so parents Can hear
news at the start and end of the school day.
7We would like a projector and retractable blind
for the ceiling to allow children of Sparrow Farm
Junior School a virtual learning experience. This
projector will be built into the centre of the
carpet so it can beam images onto the blind and
create a planetarium type show.
8At Sparrow Farm we understand the importance of
collaborative group work. Therefore we have
included a group interaction area which will have
tables and chairs for group discussions and
work. However the tables and chairs will be
stackable for when they are not in use in order
to provide further flexibility of the learning
zone.
9At Sparrow Farm Junior School we would like to
have the freedom to learn anywhere. With the
whole school being wireless children will be able
to access the Internet from any point in the
school.
10At Sparrow Farm Junior School we believe that all
the children should be given the opportunity to
present work in the variety of medium - one of
them can be through film. In our Learning Zone we
would like a range of camcorders, editing
equipment, and a retractable green screen.
11We have chosen a pastel colour such as baby blue
for the relaxation area to keep us calm. Our
Carpet throughout the whole room will stay blue
but a darker shade. Where we have the rolling
display board the shade will be a very light
colour such as cream so that the features of the
display board will stand out against it. Inside
the soundproof booth we have decided on the
colour black because research has shown that
darker colours absorb sound better. The rest of
the room will be painted in a neutral colour. We
have not chosen striking colours so that it
retains the calm atmosphere that we are trying to
create.
