• Flew with the RAF during WW2
• Wrote stories for the Saturday Evening Post
  during this time
• Began writing children's books in 1960
• First 2 books were great successes.
• Died November 23, 1990

• Simple, funny style
• Perfect for readers gaining confidence on their

• Aimed at 6-11 year olds

• Written Harry Potter series only (so far)
• Earned 545 million with them
• Ranked as 13th richest woman in Britain

• Born 21st April 1816
• Third child 6 in her family
• Worked as a governess
• Eldest of the 3 famous writers The Bronte
  Sisters-herself, Emily, and Anne
• Wrote under a male pen name Currier Bell
• Died on 31st March 1855, while pregnant with her
  first child

• Wrote for adults
• 13 16 year olds can cope with her books
• Books nearly all at least partly autobiographical
  
• This is what makes them so successful

• We like their books quite a lot
