What Are We Measuring?
  • Our group chose to measure the vertical distance
(height) of a certain point on the Ferris wheel
from the ground. In addition, we measured the
change in arc length from a point at the bottom
of the Ferris wheel in relation to a point on the
Ferris wheel. Our goal was to compare these two
variables and learn more about the relationship
    between them.

Conclusion
  • For our project, we chose to measure the vertical
distance from a point on the circle to a point on
the ground, and the change in the arc length in
relation to a point on the bottom of the Ferris
Wheel and another point. The graphical
relationship appears to be a bell curve is
because as the arc length gets longer up until
the very top of the Ferris Wheel, the height will
get larger. As the cart is on the way back down,
the arc length is still increasing, while the
height is decreasing. This creates a bell, or
    normal curve graph.
