• Astronomy-The science of the universe in which
  the stars, the planets, etc. are studied
  including their origins, evolution, composition,
  motions, relative positions, sizes, etc.

Facts

• Egyptians kept a complicated calendar.
• Created a catalog of the Universe.
• Also listed 36 groups of states called the
  decans.
• Astronomy was used to position the pyramids.
• The milky way represented the sky goddess Nut
  giving birth to the sun god Ra.

• Egyptian astronomy had a practical role in
  construction and agriculture.
• One of the most famous Astronomers in ancient
  Egypt was named Amenhotep.

The Calendar

• The calendar suited agricultural seasons. It
  also had 365 days in a year, 12 months, 30 days
  each. The calendar had five festival days added
  to the end of the year.
