- Cohort group typically zoned together and
centrally located Denton High School, Calhoun
Middle School, Evers Park Elementary, and Newton
Rayzor Elementary - Minimum of a two-year process to begin
implementation - Will start with courses for DP, middle school
MYP, and simultaneously implement PYP - Supported by district and campus funds
- Commitment to a connected curriculum across a Pre
K 12 spectrum - Analysis of results will determine future
expansion of the program

world through education - The IB offers three programmes of international
education for students aged 3 to 19, working in

- 1. Extended Essay
- The extended essay has a prescribed limit of
4,000 words. - It offers the opportunity to investigate a topic
of individual interest, and - Acquaints students with the independent research
and writing skills expected at university.

- The interdisciplinary TOK class is designed to
provide coherence by exploring the nature of
knowledge across disciplines, and encouraging an
appreciation of other cultural perspectives.

- Students earn 150 documented service hours over
two years. - Participation in the schools CAS programme
encourages students to be involved in artistic
pursuits, sports and community service work, thus
fostering students awareness and appreciation of
life outside the academic arena.

16What Classes to take.
- Six subject groups comprise the core of the IB
curriculum. - The IB Diploma candidate is required to select
one course from each of the six subject areas. - Three courses are taken at the Higher Level (HL)
- two-year courses,
- not more than four of the six subjects
- Three courses are taken at the Standard Level
(SL) - Traditionally a one-year course
- Math classes will span over the two years

- The application and educational records of each
student applying for the International
Baccalaureate Diploma Program will be reviewed by
a committee. The committee is comprised of the IB
Coordinator, teachers, counselors, and

- An appropriate score on the most recent Texas
TAKS - Students academic achievement record
- Two teacher recommendations
- one core content area teacher
- Parental consent and support
- Evaluation during a family interview
- A writing sample
- Once accepted into the program, a student must
maintain a high level of academic achievement.
