Exhalation Port Test
  • Analyzes leak rate of exhalation port
  • If successful the value of Pt. Leak will be
    displayed
  • If unsuccessful Tot. Leak will be displayed
  • EPT must be performed when using the Plateau
    Exhalation Valve because the leak is
    significantly different than the port or swivel.

Trigger Criteria in S/T
  • Time Trigger (Rate)
  • Flow Trigger
  • 6 ml inspired volume detected
  • Patient flow exceeds the shape signal (a shadow
    of the flow signal delayed by 300 ms)

In S/T mode
  • Only patient (flow) triggered breaths are flow
    cycled (PS).
  • Time triggered breaths are time cycled according
    to the set Inspiratory Time.

  • Time cycled
  • Set Inspiratory Time
  • A 3 sec maximum IPAP time has occurred
  • Flow cycled
  • Flow reversal detected
  • Patient flow is less than signal flow
  • Spontaneous Expiratory Threshold achieved
