NEW STRUCTURE

• ALL Weatherhead students will be aiming for
  Diploma level
• Eg a student will leave with a level 2 Diploma in
  Childcare at a C grade
• Assessment by national assignment and exam all
  set at start of academic year and must be met if
  student wishes to pass

PLACEMENT

• Greater emphasis placed on Communication/professio
  nal skills and these are assessed
• Assessment through PERS/PDP/Placement diary all
  must be passed to achieve this element of course
  without this the Diploma cannot be achieved
• Level 2 65 days minimum
• Level 3 125 days minimum
• Any days missed, for any reason, must be made up
  this may have to occur in school holiday time

• Degree in Teaching Early Years
• Nursing
• Degree in Childhood and Adolescent Studies
• Employment private day nurseries, teaching
  assistants, childrens centres

What should I do now?

• Make sure you achieve the GCSEs you need for 6th
  form and progression routes teaching and
  nursing degrees will require a grade C or above
  in English, Maths or Science
• Pick up a Childcare and Education course
  application form return completed form to F114
• Letters and interview dates will be sent out
  after Easter and take place during exam leave
