Lessons from The Last Lecture, by Randy Pausch
2
  • When youre in the drivers seat, you have the
opportunity to offer a ride instead of running
    people over.

3
  • Learners want to be directed, but then let loose
to explore on their own. The idea is to lead, not
    to direct.
  • Erica Schmidt

4
  • Help us to see that sometimes you can get more
from pursuing a dream and not accomplishing it,
than you can from those that you do accomplish.

5
  • If we are taught how to take the disappointments
in life then, even when you dont accomplish your
dream, the experience becomes part of what you
become. Sometimes the chase of a dream gives one
a good sense of work ethic, but when things come
easy, then people can become lazy.
  • John Andhor

6
  • Continue to criticize us because you care enough
about us to see that we become the best that we
    can.

7
  • I was impressed with how Coach Graham yelled at
Randy, and it wasnt until the other coach said
something, he realized it was only because he
still cared enough to make him better.
  • Too many students think that when someone above
them yells at them that they hate them, but
that is not true. They do it because they care
and once they stop, thats when to start
    worrying.
  • Devon Peace

8
  • Help us take the bad in life and recognize that
there are things we can do to help the outcome in
positive ways. Use the brick walls of life to
help us see how badly we want something.

9
  • Help us students to realize that bad things in
life can have positive outcomes, depending on how
we deal with them. Life is what you make it.
Sometimes you have to work hard to get through a
brick wall and prove how badly you want
    something.
  • Emily Long

10
  • Care enough to smack the truth into our heads.
    We will listen.

11
  • No one likes to be criticized, but everyone can
learn from it. When students realize that you
care enough to sometimes be painfully honest with
them, then they might think about what you have
said and take it into consideration.
  • April Silvis

12
  • Praise when its deserved be honest when you
recognize the need for us to work harder.

13
  • Praise is always appreciated, but constructive
criticism will always make us work harder.
Honesty can help us to live up to our potential.
  • Erica Schmidt

14
  • Help us realize that working harder yields more
results than complaining. Time spent whining is
    less time spent on goals.

15
  • Do not accept complaining from us. The time we
spend complaining is time we could be learning.
Instead encourage us so that we are confident
    that we can succeed.
  • Kelsea Gardner

16
  • You may have to wait a long time, but our good
    side will come out.

17
  • As students, we need you to be patient with us so
we can reach our potential, even if it means you
will have a few gray hairs and sleepless nights.

18
  • Help us realize that experience is what you get
when you didnt get what you wanted, and
experience is often the most valuable thing you
    have to offer.

19
  • When we set out to accomplish a goal, even if we
do not succeed, we gain experience . These
experience can help us and others later in life.
  • Jenna Fuller

20
  • Help us realize how important time is, so we can
    spend it wisely.

21
  • Most people do not realize that our time is
limited until it is too late. We need to learn to
make the most of our time while we have it,
because you cant know how much time you have
left. In The Last Lecture, Randy Pausch shows us
how he lived his life to the fullest.
  • Jessica Emick

22
  • Our Head Fake is that these are the ten
principles of good teachers, as shown by Randy
Pausch, and we see these characteristics in each
    of you.
