Title: Mark 1:11

1
  • Mark 111
  • The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the
    Son of God.
  • 2 As it is written in the Prophets "Behold, I
send My messenger before Your face, who will
    prepare Your way before You."
  • 3 "The voice of one crying in the wilderness
'Prepare the way of the Lord make His paths
    straight.' "

2
  • 4 John came baptizing in the wilderness and
preaching a baptism of repentance for the
    remission of sins.
  • 5 And all the land of Judea, and those from
Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized
by him in the Jordan River, confessing their
    sins.
  • 6 Now John was clothed with camel's hair and with
a leather belt around his waist, and he ate
    locusts and wild honey.

3
  • 7 And he preached, saying, "There comes One after
me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I
am not worthy to stoop down and loose.
  • 8 "I indeed baptized you with water, but He will
baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
  • NKJV

4
HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM COMPARED WITH WATER BAPTISM
5
THE BIBLE SAYS
  • HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM
  • WAS A PROMISE
  • AND NEVER A COMMAND,
  • BUT WATER BAPTISM IS
  • A COMMAND.

6
  • Mark 17-8
  • 7 And he preached, saying, "There comes One after
me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I
am not worthy to stoop down and loose.
  • 8 "I indeed baptized you with water, but He will
baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
  • (NKJ)

7
  • John 167
  • 7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to
your advantage that I go away for if I do not go
away, the Helper will not come to you but if I
depart, I will send Him to you.
  • (NKJ)

8
  • John 1612-13
  • 12 "I still have many things to say to you, but
    you cannot bear them now.
  • 13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has
come, He will guide you into all truth for He
will not speak on His own authority,
  • But whatever He hears He will speak and He will
    tell you things to come.
  • (NKJ)

9
  • Matthew 2819-20
  • 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Ghost
  • 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever
I have commanded you and, lo, I am with you
alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
  • (NKJ)

10
  • Mark 1615-16
  • 15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world
and preach the gospel to every creature.
  • 16 "He who believes and is baptized will be
saved but he who does not believe will be
    condemned.
  • (NKJ)

11
THE BIBLE SAYS
  • ALL
  • WHO SINCERELY
  • OBEY THE GOSPEL MESSAGE
  • SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT
  • OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

12
  • Acts 236-38
  • 36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know
assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you
    crucified, both Lord and Christ."
  • 37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the
heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the
apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

13
  • 38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let
every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins and you shall
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
  • (NKJ)

14
  • Ephesians 111-14
  • 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance,
being predestined according to the purpose of Him
who works all things according to the counsel of
    His will,
  • 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be
to the praise of His glory.
  • 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the
word of truth, the gospel of your salvation in
whom also, having believed, you were sealed with
    the Holy Spirit of promise,

15
  • 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until
the redemption of the purchased possession, to
    the praise of His glory.
  • (NKJ)

16
THE BIBLE SAYS
  • ONLY
  • THE APOSTLES,
  • AND CORNELIUS,
  • AND HIS RELATIVES
  • AND FRIENDS,
  • RECEIVED THE BAPTISM
  • OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

17
  • Acts 11-5
  • 1 The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all
that Jesus began both to do and teach,
  • 2 until the day in which He was taken up, after
He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments
to the apostles whom He had chosen,

18
  • 3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after
His suffering by many infallible proofs, being
seen by them during forty days and speaking of
the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
  • 4 And being assembled together with them, He
commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but
to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which,"
He said, "you have heard from Me

19
  • 5 "for John truly baptized with water, but you
shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many
    days from now."
  • NKJV

20
  • Acts 21-4
  • 1 Now when the Day of Pentecost had fully come,
they were all with one accord in one place.
  • 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as
of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole
    house where they were sitting.
  • 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as
of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

21
  • 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak with other tongues, as the
    Spirit gave them utterance.
  • (NKJ)

22
  • Acts 101-6
  • 1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called
Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the
    Italian Regiment,
  • 2 a devout man and one who feared God with all
his household, who gave alms generously to the
people, and prayed to God always.

23
  • 3 About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly
in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying
    to him, "Cornelius!"
  • 4 And when he observed him, he was afraid, and
said, "What is it, lord?" So he said to him,
"Your prayers and your alms have come up for a
    memorial before God.

24
  • 5 Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose
    surname is Peter.
  • 6 He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house
is by the sea. He will tell you what you must
    do."
  • NKJV

25
Acts 1024 24 And the following day they entered
Caesarea. Now Cornelius was waiting for them, and
had called together his relatives and close
friends. (NKJ)
26
  • Acts 1034-35
  • 34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said "In
truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.
  • 35 But in every nation whoever fears Him and
works righteousness is accepted by Him.
  • NKJV

27
  • Acts 1044-48
  • 44 While Peter was still speaking these words,
the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the
    word.
  • 45 And those of the circumcision who believed
were astonished, as many as came with Peter,
because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been
poured out on the Gentiles also.

28
  • 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and
    magnify God. Then Peter answered,
  • 47 "Can anyone forbid water, that these should
not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit
    just as we have?
  • 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the
name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a
    few days
  • (NKJ)

29
  • Acts 111-4
  • 1 Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea
heard that the Gentiles had also received the
    word of God.
  • 2 And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of
    the circumcision contended with him,
  • 3 saying, "You went in to uncircumcised men and
    ate with them!"

30
  • 4 But Peter explained it to them in order from
    the beginning, saying
  • (NKJ)

31
  • Acts 1115-18
  • 15 "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit
fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.
  • 16 "Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how
He said, 'John indeed baptized with water, but
you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'

32
  • 17 "If therefore God gave them the same gift as
He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus
Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?"
  • 18 When they heard these things they became
silent and they glorified God, saying, "Then God
has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to
    life."
  • (NKJ)

33
THE BIBLE SAYS
  • THE HOLY SPIRIT
  • GAVE GIFTS UNTO PEOPLE
  • BY THE HANDS
  • OF THE APOSTLES
  • WHEN THEY PRAYED.

34
  • Acts 61-8
  • 1 Now in those days, when the number of the
disciples was multiplying, there arose a
murmuring against the Hebrews by the Hellenists,
because their widows were neglected in the daily
    distribution.
  • 2 Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the
disciples and said, "It is not desirable that we
should leave the word of God and serve tables.

35
  • 3 "Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you
seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy
Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this
    business
  • 4 "but we will give ourselves continually to
prayer and to the ministry of the word."

36
  • 5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And
they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the
Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor,
Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from
    Antioch,
  • 6 whom they set before the apostles and when
they had prayed, they laid hands on them.

37
  • 7 Then the word of God spread, and the number of
the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem,
and a great many of the priests were obedient to
    the faith.
  • 8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great
wonders and signs among the people.
  • (NKJ)

38
  • 5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And
they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the
Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor,
Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from
    Antioch,
  • 6 whom they set before the apostles and when
they had prayed, they laid hands on them.

39
  • Acts 85-7
  • 5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria
    and preached Christ to them.
  • 6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the
things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the
    miracles which he did.
  • 7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice,
came out of many who were possessed and many who
were paralyzed and lame were healed.
  • NKJV

40
  • Acts 812
  • 12 But when they believed Philip as he preached
the things concerning the kingdom of God and the
name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were
    baptized.
  • (NKJ)

41
  • Acts 814-17
  • 14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem
heard that Samaria had received the word of God,
they sent Peter and John to them,
  • 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them
that they might receive the Holy Spirit.
  • 16 For as yet He had fallen upon none of them.
They had only been baptized in the name of the
    Lord Jesus.

42
  • 17 Then they laid hands on them, and they
    received the Holy Spirit.
  • (NKJ)

43
THE BIBLE SAYS
  • HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM
  • AND MIRACULOUS GIFTS
  • OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
  • WERE NOT TO CONTINUE,
  • BUT WATER BAPTISM WAS.

44
  • 1 Corinthians 121-11
  • 1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do
not want you to be ignorant
  • 2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away
to these dumb idols, however you were led.
  • 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one
speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus
accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord
    except by the Holy Spirit.

45
  • 4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same
    Spirit.
  • 5 There are differences of ministries, but the
    same Lord.
  • 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it
is the same God who works all in all.
  • 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to
each one for the profit of all

46
  • 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through
the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge
    through the same Spirit,
  • 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another
gifts of healings by the same Spirit,
  • 10 to another the working of miracles, to another
prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to
another different kinds of tongues, to another
    the interpretation of tongues.

47
  • 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these
things, distributing to each one individually as
    He wills.
  • (NKJ)

48
  • 1 Corinthians 138-10
  • 8 Love never fails. But whether there are
prophecies, they will fail whether there are
tongues, they will cease whether there is
    knowledge, it will vanish away.
  • 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
  • 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then
that which is in part will be done away.
  • (NKJ)

49
  • James 121-25
  • 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and
overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness
the implanted word, which is able to save your
    souls.
  • 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers
    only, deceiving yourselves.
  • 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not
a doer, he is like a man observing his natural
    face in a mirror

50
  • 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and
immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
  • 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of
liberty and continues in it, and is not a
forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one
will be blessed in what he does.
  • (NKJ)

51
  • HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM
  • AND MIRACULOUS GIFTS
  • OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
  • WERE NOT TO
    CONTINUE,
  • BUT WATER BAPTISM WAS.

52
  • Mark 1615-16
  • 15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world
and preach the gospel to every creature.
  • 16 "He who believes and is baptized will be
saved but he who does not believe will be
    condemned.
  • (NKJ)

53
  • Romans 61-6
  • 1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in
    sin that grace may abound?
  • 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin
    live any longer in it?
  • 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were
baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His
    death?

54
  • 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through
baptism into death, that just as Christ was
raised from the dead by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life.
  • 5 For if we have been united together in the
likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be
in the likeness of His resurrection,

55
  • 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified
with Him, that the body of sin might be done away
with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
  • (NKJ)

56
  • 1 Peter 318-21
  • 18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins,
the just for the unjust, that he might bring us
to God, being put to death in the flesh, but
    quickened by the Spirit
  • 19 By which also he went and preached unto the
    spirits in prison

57
  • 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the
longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah,
while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that
is, eight souls were saved by water.
  • 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth
also now save us (not the putting away of the
filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good
conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of
    Jesus Christ
  • KJV

58
  • Ephesians 44-6
  • 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you
were called in one hope of your calling
  • 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism
  • 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all,
and through all, and in you all.
  • (NKJ)

59
  • LET US ALL
  • UNDERSTAND
  • THE DOCTRINE
  • OF
  • JESUS CHRIST !
  • AND
  • LET US ALL TEACH IT
