4First Read Procedures
- A Concept/Question Board is accessible to the
students. - Teacher models strategies using suggestions in
the teachers guide from Link to the Theme (Found
in Unit Overview-Exploring the Theme Chart). Also
consider Theme Connections Think About It at
the end of the selection. - Teacher reads orally to student in a shared read.
- Teacher models strategy use.
- Teacher gradually releases use of strategies to
students. (As students become fluent, proficient
readers they may read the selection independently
and use the strategies themselves.)
