  • A. When? the night He was betrayed, 1 Cor.
    1123. When they ate the Last Supper, Matt.
    2617-20 Lk. 2214, 15.
  • B. What? Unleavened bread, fruit of the vine
  • Doesnt say wine, grape juice.

    Same in Mark. Luke does not say blessed.
  • -- Paul says we bless, 1 Cor. 1016 1124,
    when He had given thanks.
  • -- Give thanks for what? Privilege? Opportunity?
    Bread, fruit of the vine.

    This is called transubstantiation.

    Divide a literal cup?

    drink the cup (1 Cor 1127).
  • Is the table of the Lord literal?
  • Obviously, cup contents!

  • F. Lords Supper is not for the remis-sions of
    sins. Not a sacrament.
  • -- One reason why many do not partake weekly say
    they must confess sins, before partaking, so do
    it monthly, etc.

  • -- As we partake we remember this blood that was
    shed from His hands, His feet and His side.

    death of Christ.

    bread and one body for we all partake of that
    one bread.

    together if we are not united.

    table of demons.

    proclaim the Lords death
  • Resurrection? Baptism, 1st day of week.
  • Memorial Passover (Ex 12), Sabbath (Deut. 515),
    rocks in River Jordan, (Josh. 45-7).
  • Remember what? When instituted? Its a
    commandment? When to partake?
  • Christs death on the cross, Matt. 27 Mark 15
    Lk. 23 Jn. 19. Read portions of these.

    this cup, 1 Cor. 1126 Acts 207.
  • -- you proclaim the Lords death Looking back,
    make a proclamation.
  • -- until He comes Looking forward, expecting
    His return.

  • VII. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily,
    eateth and drinketh damnation to himself (KJV).
  • -- Are we worthy to partake? Who is?
  • -- not discerning the Lords body. Obviously
    means unworthy manner.
  • -- 1 Cor. 1117-22, were they discerning the
    Lords body?

  • -- Lesson for us Avoid strife, contentions in
    the church.
  • -- Meditate on what we do, not distracted, not
    let mind wander.
  • -- Partake with all reverence, remember-ing
    Lords death and that we are par-taking of
    (sharing) the benefits of it.

    flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you
    have no life in you? Let Bible explain itself.
    How?

    verses 54.
  • -- Things equal to the same thing are equal to
    each other.

  • -- Central to Lords Day worship. Ac 207.
  • -- We remember Jesus death on cross.
  • -- We share in its benefits.
  • -- We gratefully proclaim it as a fact.
  • -- Until He comes, expressing our hope.
  • -- We show our consecration to Christ, our
    separation from the world, our unity as members
    of His body.
