  • Ulrich and Eppinger (20042) define NPD as the
    set of activities beginning with the perception
    of a market opportunity and ending in the
    production, sale, and delivery of a product.
  • Addressing this larger context, Wheelwright and
    Clark (1992 Chapter 1) defined NPD as the
    effective organization and management of
    activities that enable an organization to bring
    successful products to market, with short
    development times and low development costs.
