3RAMSES II
- Third Egyptian pharaoh
- Often considered to be the greatest, most
powerful and most celebrated pharaoh of the
Egyptian Empire - Early part of his reign was focused on building
cities, temples and monuments - Also known as Ozymandias
- Biggest, most famous temple he built was Abu

4Four giant statues of Ramses II (one is missing
its head) sit outside the largest temple at Abu
Simbel in Egypt. Each statue is 65 feet (20
meters) tall and weighs almost 2.5 million pounds
(1.1 million kilograms). That's as much as 170
elephants!
5Visitors look tiny compared to these 30-foot-tall
(9-meter-tall) statues of Ramses II in a temple
in Abu Simbel.
6In this ancient painting, Ramses II is drawn much
larger than life to exaggerate his size and his
power. Ramses II is also known as Ramses the
Great.
