Ten Tips to being a Green Falcon Remember
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
  1. Use a re-usable polycarbonate or stainless steel
    water bottle not plastic bottled water
  2. There are water bottle filling stations in every
    residence hall and numerous academic buildings
    check them out!
  3. If you dont want an item anymore, dont throw it
    away, donate it to the reStore, Goodwill, or give
    it to a friend!
  4. Visit BGSUs re-use store, the reStore located
    in Kreischer you swap items or make a donation.
  5. Recycle your items
  6. Use the recycling bins located in virtually every
    room and hallway on campus paper, plastics
    (1-7), cans, bottles, glass, and cardboard can
    all be recycled in the Recycling container and
    everything else goes into the Landfill
    container
  7. Conserve your water consumption
  8. Turning off the water when brushing your teeth or
    shortening your shower by 5 minutes can save up
    to 25 gallons of water!
  9. Stop the Styrofoam
  10. Styrofoam is one of the worst products for the
    environment due to the carcinogenic chemicals
    released during production and the fact that it
    takes hundreds of years to break down
  11. Save Energy
  12. Purchasing Energy Star appliances (look on the
    box), unplugging them when not in use, and
    consolidating the number of appliances by sharing
    with your roommate are all ways to reduce your
    energy consumption!
  13. Using washable re-usable plates, cups, and bowls
    in you room reduces your waste and saves money
  14. Visit the reStore, pick up some re-usable dining
    ware and save money from having to drive to the
    store and buying the disposable items, save trips
    to the dumpster, and reduce your carbon
    footprint!
  15. Use re-chargeable batteries
  16. Single use batteries leak harmful chemicals into
    the landfill and are hard to recycle purchasing
    re-chargeable batteries saves money from having
    to continuously buy new batteries, reduces waste,
    and can be recycled at the end of their life
    cycle!
  17. Volunteer for the Office of Campus Sustainability
  18. Visit our website at www.bgsu.edu/sustainability
    (or scan the barcode-top left) and get involved
    with programs on campus!
