Title: Chapter 8 : Bearing
1Chapter 8 Bearing Students will be able to
1) Draw and label the eight main compass
directions.
22) Draw a diagram of a point which shows the
direction of B relative to another point A
given the bearing of B from A. Example
- Given that the bearing of B from A is 065º.
Draw a diagram to show the bearing of B from A.
A
3Step 1 Draw the north direction at point
A. Step 2 Use a protractor to measure the angle
65º clock-wise from the north direction. Label
the point marked as B. Step 3 Draw a straight
line from A to B.
4- 3 ) State the bearing of point A from point B
given the bearing of point B from point A. - Example
Bearing of B from A Diagram Bearing of A from B
167º

A
5Step 1 Sketch the bearing of B from A Step 2
Draw another north direction at point B
parallel to the north direction at
point A Step 3 Find the bearing of point A
from point B using the concept of lines and
angles
6Reinforcement Activity Students will be able to
determine the bearing of one place from another
from the map Step 1 Students are divided into
groups of five. Each group is given a map of
Malaysia Step 2 Students are told to identify
two places on the map, for example Kuala Lumpur
and Taman Negara Step 3 Students use a
protractor to find the bearing of Taman Negara
from Kuala Lumpur and vice-versa, applying the
concept of bearing they had just learned
