Activity 1
  • Take a walk through your neighborhood and take
    pictures of structures or things that have the
    shapes of the polygons studied in the previous
    lesson. If you are unsure of the types of
    pictures that you should take, go to the
    following web site to get some ideas.
  • Bring the cameras or the pictures to the class
    and import them to iPhoto.

Activity 2
  • Open PowerPoint and insert each picture on a
    different slide.
  • Outline each polygon.
  • Give a brief explanation of the properties found
    in each outlined polygon.

Activity 3
  • Based on your pictures answer the questions in
    the following worksheet.

  • Watch the following video on how to use
    GoogleEarth to calculate the Area and the

  • j. Two areas or buildings of your choice
  • Put your findings in the following Worksheet.
