Bridge requirements

• Due January 8th ( after break)
• Most building will be done in class.
• Use flat toothpicks
• Wood glue is best
• Follow the building code presented.

Bridge Building Code

• Build the bridge on a piece of cardboard 15cm by
  35cm.
• (corrugated cardboard only)

Building Code Measurements

• 1. The bridge must be more than 5cm high.
• 2. The deck should be at least 5 cm wide.
• 3. The deck should be 30 cm long.
• 4. The piers should be 20cm. Apart.

Draw your plans on graph paper

• Draw plans of the bridge to show two views top
  view of deck
• side view of bridge
• Mark all measurements on your plan.
• Label each part of the bridge.
• The plans must be readable, clear, and may not be
  changed once construction has begun.
• You must get final approval from teacher.

Building rules

• 1. Use glue sparingly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is
  used to join toothpicks only. It should not be
  used to coat your bridge like paint.
• 2. Use wood glue or Elmers glue.
• 3. Toothpicks may be glued into holes punched in
  the cardboard inside the squares.

Prepare your cardboard

• Bring to teacher.
• Color your river
• Color the land.

Judging

• 1. The bridge will be judged for the quality of
  the building plans.
• 2. Strength must be able to support at least
  1000 grams.
• 3. Design type of bridge designed can be
  categorized into one of the three types studied
  in class.
