- Hilter's plan was to invade Great Britain by
knocking out the Royal Air Force and then landing
250,000 soldiers on England's shores. - German bombers targeted British airfields and
aircraft factories. - September 7, 1940 they began focusing on cities -
London.

- Allies learned a crucial lesson Hitler's
advances could be blocked.

meant fighting on two fronts. Soviet Union joined

were wounded. What was destroyed? Two U.S. Navy
battleships, one minelayer, two destroyers, and
188 aircraft.
