• The roles and responsibilities of a child care
  worker are many and varied
• A successful child care worker needs to be able
  to effectively manage time
• Time management is a means of getting things
  done as quickly as possible and with as little
  stress as possible

Setting goals

• Having goals for yourself can help with time and
  workload management
• Goals can help you achieve what you want
• Once you know what your goals are you can take
  action to achieve them
• This allows you to take control of the situation

• A goal is a target that we are aiming to work
  towards over a specific period of time.
• It is the vision of what something will become in
  this timeframe
• When setting your goals you need to ensure that
  they are

• Specific needs to be something easily
  identifiable e.g., I will increase my confidence
  in reading books to a wide range of children in
  Playsession
• Achievable must be within the capabilities of
  the person e.g., I will be in Playsession once a
  fortnight

Goals, strategies and evaluations

• Goals discussed
• Strategies are the methods or plans of action
  that you devise to help you achieve your goals
• Evaluation is a record of how you worked towards
  these goals. It describes how the strategies
  worked

• Being a team means working together but does not
  necessarily mean everyone doing the same thing
• We all have different strengths, interests and

• We are dependent on other people in the team and
  cannot do it all on our own
