Patron-Driven Plan
  • Strategies to better connect users and content
  • Support just in time model of collection
development to provide access as quickly as
possible to content needed for curriculum and
    research
  • Add MARC records in the catalog for ebook titles
that are for titles not in the collection
  • Purchased after second use
  • Increase circulation statistics

7
Patron-Driven Funding
  • Funding outside base and lottery budget
  • Campus Quality Fee
  • Provost competition
  • Year-end funds from Dean

8
Patron-Driven parameters
  • English language
  • 150 cap

  • Academic subject areas / publishers
  • Originally did not dedupe titles (changed)
  • Added notes to identify source of funding (CQF)
    and when purchased
  • Did not market titles

Issues
  • Profile should be reviewed adjusted as needed
  • Adding ebooks when there is a print version or
another online copy needs to be reviewed
  • Invoiced for titles that we did not have MARC
    records for (small)
  • Determining the cap for the price of the book
  • Maintaining sufficient deposit funds to cover the
    high use
  • Access issues

14
Highest used titles
15
Online ILL
  • Supplement the print and online collection in
    catalog
  • Provide access to monographs through EBL rather
    than InterLibrary Loan
  • Cap for price of book is higher 350
  • Non-mediated
  • Rental charge based on the amount of time access
    and the percent

16
Future
  • Expand funding PDA for all subject areas
  • EBL model provides access titles (including
Springer) otherwise out of reach through SFX
    (higher cap)
  • Unclear how this will impact the role of the
    bibliographer and selection
