4About the FAFSA?
- The U.S. Department of Education uses the FAFSA
to determine students eligibility for federal
student aid - Many state governments and colleges use the FAFSA
to determine eligibility for nonfederal aid. - The California Dream Act and the BOG fee waiver
both require the FAFSA
- FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid.

- Step 2 Select Start A New FAFSA
- Step 3 Login.
- You will enter the same login information if you
need to revise your FAFSA after submitting it.

- Step 4 Use the tabs across the top to navigate
the FAFSA. Begin by filling out your demographic
information.
- Step 5 Select the schools you want to receive
your completed FAFSA. - These are the same schools from which you are
applying for financial aid.

- Step 6 What is your Dependency Status?
- Dependent students are required to provide
financial information for their parent(s)/legal
guardian(s), whereas Independent students are

- Step 7 Fill out the Parent Demographic section.
- Step 9 Sign and Submit your FAFSA
- Step 8 If you have been classified as a
dependent student, you will need to provide
financial information for your parent(s).

- It can take several weeks for your schools to
receive your FAFSA.
- To check the progress of your application, simply
visit FAFSA.gov and login as a returning user.
