Title: Tropical Coral Sea
1Tropical Coral Sea
2Location of the Coral Sea
- The Coral Sea is part of the pacific ocean
between the Northeast coast of Australia, the
Solomon Islands and the Vanuatu Island group.
3Landforms of the Coral Sea
The Great Barrier Reef is the most well known in
Australia, and is part of the Coral Sea. Also
the New Caledonia Island (belongs to France) is
also in the Coral Sea.
4Clown Anemonefish
- The Clown fish is found in the Coral Sea and the
western and central Pacific Ocean. Its diet is
plankton. It can get up to 2 1/4 in in size.
His home is in Coral reefs. So if your ever out
snorkeling, look for the clown fish for you might
just see him.
5Dugong
The Dugong is a large, seal like animal. The
Dugong can be seen in the Red Sea to the edge of
Northeast Australia. The Dugongs diet is
seaweed. The Dugong makes his home in coastal
waters. The Dugong is in the same family of the
manatee, it gets to be up to about 9 3/4ft in
size.
6Smooth Hammerhead Shark
The Hammer Head shark can get up to 14ft in
length. The Hammer Head eats fish and can be
seen in tropical and warm temperate areas. The
Hammer Head usually makes its home in coastal
waters.
7Plants
Coral Reefs A coral reef is made up of hundreds
oh ployps skeletons. A small, creature that forms
a skeleton to protect itself, the skeleton sticks
to other Polyps skeletons to form a coral reef.
The reefs come in many shapes, colors and sizes.
Hawaii and Australia are famous for there coral
reefs. Kelp Unlike land plants, Gambian Kelp do
not have roots. Instead they use Holdfasts, this
gives them the ability to anchor themselves on
coastal rocks and coral reefs. Water Cactus
In the shallow waters of tropical oceans you can
find water cactus. Water Cactus look like a tall
weed, with hairy leaves growing from the ocean
floor. The leaves on the Water Cactus help
produce food. When parts of the plant break off,
they settle into a different area and start a new
plant.

10Questions about Tropical Oceans
- Where are they?
- You can find tropical oceans all over the world.
One such tropical area is a part of the Pacific
Ocean. - Is the water cold?
- No, tropical oceans are usually fairly warm. But
every once in a while they can maybe reach down
to 50 degrees.
11Role of H2O in the Coral Sea
- The part water plays in my biome is pretty much
everything. It provides air for the fish to
breath, and it caries nutrients for the plants to
grow. With out water my biome would become a
hot, dry desert.
