6MISSION
The job of Navy EOD is to detect, recover,
identify, evaluate, render safe and dispose of
Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) that constitutes a
threat to people, material, installations, ships,
aircraft and operations. As the only naval force
trained for such an expansive mission, Navy EOD
technicians must deal with all types of explosive
ordnance as well as weapon delivery systems
containing explosives and propellants.
7MEANS
- Use of ships and submersibles play a key role in
the detection and destruction of sea mines. - EOD not only looks for unexploded ordinance that
may pose a threat, but also disposes of unused,
aging ordinance in the fleet that poses a threat
due to its instability.
