Title: Welcome to Mrs. Pittman
1Welcome to Mrs. Pittmans 4th Grade Class!!!
2Meet Mrs. Pittman
- I have been teaching 4th grade for 21 years.
This is my 12th year at Carver. - I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary
Education and my AIG certification in K-12th
grade. - I have been married for 17 years and have two
sons. - I have 2 spoiled dogs.
- I live in Wilson, N.C.
- When I was in high school, Mr. Ellis was my
assistant principal. BOY IS HE OLD!!! - I love hanging out at the beach in the summer!
- I know we are going to have a great year
together. My job is to help you reach your
goals, so do not hesitate to ask questions when
dont understand something!!
3There are lots of new things to learn!
AND SO MUCH MORE!!
4But we also have to learn
- Procedures and Expectations!!!
5What are procedures and expectations?
- Guidelines that help a community run smoothly and
allow people to work together peacefully.
6Soaring our way to outstanding behavior!
- This year you will be earning points daily
according to your behavior. You may earn up to
eight point a day depending on how you have moved
on the behavior chart. - PBIS Celebration In fourth grade, you will use
your points to spend on activities such as
playing games on the computer during part of
class, using a teacher chair, listening music
during part of class, and even more!! That will
doing what you want to do during part of class
and not what the teachers want you to do. YEAH!!
- In your special classes will be earning points to
earn a class celebration. Our first goal is 50
points and I am sure we will make it in NO TIME!
7Classroom Expectations
- 1. Respect Treat others and their belongings
the way you want to be treated.
2. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to
yourself.
3. Use appropriate written, verbal, and body
language at times.
4. Raise your hand before speaking and use your
inside voice at all times.
5. Work quietly, listen, and follow directions.
- Always come fully prepared for class at all
times. (Homework, materials, etc.)
8Be the BEST you can be!!
You all know that you are as good as you choose
to be. Life is about choices. Make wise choices
at school and you will be a success. Each day
is a new day. You will start on green in each of
your classes, but may move to other colors by the
choices you make. They may be good or bad
choices. If you choose to make good choices, you
will clip up and earn more points for the day.
If you make the wrong choices, you will clip down
and lose your opportunity to earn points. This
will affect the number of points you receive that
day. Good choices will not only make your day
better, and give your more knowledge, but will
also be rewarding. Each day you move up on the
behavior chart you are earning more and more
points to spend for our PBIS reward party!! So
let the points add up and you will be happy you
did when party time comes around!
9Be the BEST you can be!! Part 2
On the other hand, if you choose to break rules
daily, you will lose points and possibly lose the
opportunity to participate in the PBIS party each
9 weeks. The first time during the a class
period that you break a rule, you will clip down
and will be given a warning, with no consequence.
The second clip down will be teachers choice
which may result in silent lunch, limited or no
recess, buddy teacher, etc. Any time you clip
down twice, you will have to fill out a check
list that will be stapled in the agenda for
parents to sign. Parents will be notified if you
clip down twice in a class period. The third
clip down will be contacting a parent that day
and a possible office referral. If you receive
an office referral from any teacher, you will not
participate in the PBIS party at all during that
9 weeks. You will not clip down for not having
homework, or lack of organization but you will
have to either complete it during silent lunch or
recess. Your parents will also be notified
because you will have to fill out a slip that
tells what you are missing will be stapled to the
agenda that must be signed by your parent. SO
REMEMBER BEHAVIOR COUNTS IN THIS CLASSROOM!!!
10Its a Team Effort
- In sports, you always hear you either win as a
team or lose as a team. Same thing in our
classroom. We have to work together and get
along with one another to be successful. - Our first goal to reach as a class is 50
points. We will have an opportunity to earn up
to three points daily within the classroom in
order to earn a class reward party for reaching
our goal. - We can also earn bonus points in our special
classes, in the hallway, and in the lunchroom. - So remember TEAM WORK PAYS OFF!!! Lets get to
our 50 point goal in record time. I have faith
in all of you to do your best to succeed as a
team.
11Our Classroom
- Floor
- Must be kept clean before any of us leave for the
day. Anything left on the floor will be thrown
away by me or Mr. Staton (The janitor) - Desks
- Keep them neat and organized! A neat and tidy
desk might earn you a point, prize, or homework
pass! Remember you are sharing a desk with
another person so keep only necessary materials
in your desk or they may walk away! - Supplies
- If you dont have something, please let me know.
I will let you borrow or try to get you what you
need! If you borrow anything from me it should be
taken care of with extreme respect and care. It
should also be returned the day it was borrowed.
- Teachers Desk
- My desk is off limits. You are not allowed to
line up behind it or be near it without
permission, unless you are there to ask a
question on work. - Cabinets
- The cabinets are also off limits. You are only
allowed to go into the cabinets when asked to get
something for me.
12Disrespectful Behavior
- G.W. Carver Elementary School has a NO TOLERANCE
for disrespectful. If you are calling someone
names or picking on others you will be written up
and your parent will be contacted. This is a
serious offense! - Would you like to be picked on, made fun of,
pushed, hit, etc.? - Remember to always think about how you would feel
if you were the one being picked on! Treat
others the way you want to be treated!!!
13If It Doesnt Belong To You
- If you find something that you know is not yours,
please give it to Mrs. Pittman or the rightful
owner! - Stealing will not be allowed or tolerated in my
classroom! If you are caught stealing from me or
another student, your parents will be called, you
will lose privileges, and you will be written up.
14Be Respectful
- Every student has the right to a safe and secure
classroom you do not have the right to
jeopardize this in any way. - Be respectful to yourself, to your environment,
to your classmates, and to your teacher. - Again treat others the way you want to be treated.
15Be Responsible
- Recognize your own role in building a fun and
productive community of learners. - Understand that there are consequences, both good
and bad, for your actions.
16Be Safe!
- Think! Ask yourself is it worth it? Would I want
this done to me? - I will not tolerate, and you shouldnt either,
any behavior that takes away from the learning
and safety in this classroom. - If something is bothering you, do not be afraid
to come talk to me! I am here to teach you,
protect you, and listen to you!
17Be Cooperative
- Time and again you might be asked to do something
that you do not want to do, that you might not
like, or that you might think is a waste of time
or worthless. Be mature and work through it. You
may find that getting there is worth it and
actually fun! Our world demands that you work as
a team and work well with others.
18Be A Worker!
- Do Your Job!
- Challenge yourself to be productive!
- Your are here, so use your time wisely!
19Be Peaceful
- Simply put, be kind to each other!

Guidance, Computer Lab) - Line up for lunch
- Line up to come in from recess

- When you line up and travel in the hallways at
anytime!
21Birthdays
- Happy Birthday! I love to celebrate birthdays!
- Please let me know if you want to celebrate and
have your parent contact me if they are planning
on bringing in a special Birthday Treat! - If it is your birthday and you would like to
bring in a special treat, make sure you have
enough for everyone and that it is bought from
the store.
22Rules
- With your shoulder partner, discuss and write
down 3 POSITIVE (TO DO) rules for one of the
following - Classroom, bathroom, hallway, cafeteria, and
buses. - For example Hallway We will always walk in a
quiet line. - You will be given 5 minutes and then we will
discuss them. - We do have rules and we will follow them in
fourth grade.
23Consequences
- With your group, discuss and develop consequences
for any rules that might be broken. - What do you think should be a punishment and why?
- You may be asked to present them to the class.
24Questions
- I will do my best to answer any questions you
might have. If I do not know the answer to your
question, I will research it or ask someone else
and get back to you. - DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS! If I dont
know, how can I give you an answer or give you
more help? - Are there any questions?
