  • Dolley was born on May 20, 1768, in Guilford
    County, North Carolina. Dolley was a quaker.
  • A quaker is a person who has strong religious
    beliefs much different from pilgrims and
    puritans. Dolley had 4 brothers and 3 sisters,
    her parents were Mary and John.

  • In 1790 Dolley married John Todd. Dolley and John
    had to tell Dolleys parents slavery was against
    quakers belief's. Her parents finally let go of
    their slaves.

  • Dolley and John had a baby William 1793. He was
    born early and grew sick of yellow fever a few
    days after birth.

  • Everybody was dying of yellow fever.
  • In 1793 October 24, John and baby William died of
    yellow fever. Dolley and her other son ran out of
    town.

    On 1794, Dolley married James Madison .The guy
    who was looking at her. Dolleys sister always
    looked after Dolleys last son . When her and
    James were out. She was a big help to Dolley and
    James .

    president . When they were living in the White
    House, the British attacked and Dolley saved a
    famous painting of Washington from going up into
    flames.

  • In 1804, Dolleys sister got married and moved to
    Main . Dolley was sad but knew her sister would
    come back.

  • James Madison grew sick and died in 1836.Dolley
    tried to do his work but it was to hard and
    stressful.

    visit her grave and she is a famous American.
    She was a great HERO.
