2Need for Information
- These days, everywhere is dominated by the
information. - The years after 1970s is called as Information
Age - We (as students and instructors) all need for
information at different times for different
purposes (like assignments, research papers,
articles) - Question is where to find the correct information
?

21Reporting the Findings
- Example Ali is given a task to search about
history of computers and write a homework about
it in high school.
- History of Computers
- The development of the modern day computer was
the result of advances in technologies and man's
need to quantify. Papyrus helped early man to
record language and numbers. The abacus was one
of the first counting machines. . - Some of the earlier mechanical counting machines
lacked the technology to make the design work.
For instance, some had parts made of wood prior
to metal manipulation and manufacturing. Imagine
the wear on wooden gears. -

- History of Computers
- Developments in the technology resulted with the
todays modern computer. It is emphasized that
the basic principle that started the idea of
computers is counting. - The first counting device is known as abacus.
Early counting machines were mechanical and do
not have any technology. Even wood were used in
the old abacus before metal part usage. -
