- So what is figurative language?
- It is language that you have to figure out
- As you can see, there are a lot of types of
figurative language. Today, we only discuss the
pun.
3WHAT IS A PUN?
- A pun is a play on words.
- These words will have two possible meanings.
- Puns are usually funny.
- You find them everywhere. (movies, poems, plays,
etc.) FYI Shakespeare is known for his puns - In order for one to understand puns, one must
have a decent knowledge of vocabulary and
culture.
4Purpose
- Puns are generally a source of humor, but they
can also be cruel or unkind. - Simply put, puns are fun to watch and hear. It is
entertaining to see and hear such verbal sparring
