Concern Universal has been delivering high
quality development work for the past 40 years
with innovation and individuals at the heart of
our approach. We currently operate across 11
countries, in Africa, Asia and Latin-America,
with 8 country offices. Last year we worked to
transform the lives of 2.9 million people living
in poverty.

Investing in Concern Universal is investing in an
approach to international development that is
focussed around individuals and their community,
working with them to create sustainable solutions
to the challenges they face.
We Listen Everything we do is individual and
community led. Our role is to enable communities
to address their own challenges.
Were Cost Effective 92 of our expenditure is on
our direct programme work. For every donated 1
we leverage 12 of funding from big donors.
Were Rigorous We honestly assess whats worked
and what hasnt. We are always learning and
continuously improving. We capture what weve
learnt and share that experience.
4We do not believe in continued dependency.
Across our programmes, we develop exit strategies
that will ensure we change the systems and
structures around individuals and communities to
enable change to stick. Thats real dignity.
5Our Growth
We have grown at an incredible rate and achieved
huge success with our impact and programme
quality. This has led to us securing
multi-million, multi-year contracts which has
increased our scale and impact hugely.

Location Flexible Salary Range
50,510 - 60170, negotiable for the right person
- We are looking for an exceptional individual to
join our dynamic organisation at an exciting time
of growth. You will need to demonstrate that you
have the skills, knowledge, ability and
experience to deliver on the responsibilities
listed below. This role will suit someone who is
able to both lead and deliver results themselves.
- The Director of Income Generation and
Communications will be responsible for - Leading Concern Universals Fundraising Strategy
- Ensure that the overall strategy is translated
into ambitious but realistic business and
operational plans - Diversify our income base, ensuring our
unrestricted ratio is 20 of the organisation by
raising an additional 10 million over 4 years. - Innovate we have innovative ideas and products
that make us stand out, but need an experienced
leader to turn these ideas and products into
action. - Leading a Brand Review
- We have an incredible reputation for our
programme delivery and now need our brand to
reflect this. The Director will lead this
process, helping us to deliver our vision and
mission. - Influencing
- Our approach and programmes are effective and
efficient with proven high impact. The Director
will act as an ambassador and champion for
Concern Universal with external stakeholders,
including engagement with policy makers and
funders, to our influence globally and secure
the resources and support necessary to have the
greatest impact. - Provide inspiring leadership and create a
positive working culture for all staff.
8- What we are looking for
- Concern Universal is looking for an exceptional
candidate who is able to demonstrate possession
of the following skills, experience and personal
attributes at a level that would enable them to
meet the requirements of this role - Skills and abilities
- Strong, inspirational leadership skills with a
facilitative leadership style that can be
effectively deployed within a highly autonomous
devolved structure. - First-class persuasion, negotiation and
relationship management skills, suited to the
effective management of strategic relationships - Experience
- A proven track record of effective fundraising,
marketing and communication activities,
demonstrating delivery of significant levels of
income. - Evidence of robust financial skills including
experience of managing multi-million pound - budgets.
- A track record of success in leadership,
including in motivating and managing fundraising
teams. - Experience of building successful relationships
with donors and, ideally, of accessing NGO
funding. - Personal attributes
- Personal integrity and credibility as a leader
who is also inspiring, enthusiastic and capable
of taking staff and the organisation as a whole
forward. - Commitment to Concern Universals values,
strategic objectives and approach. - Entrepreneurial and innovative thinker, able to
be creative with limited resources.
