What is the Lets Get Healthy! fair?

• An education and research exhibit
• Education -- you will learn about your health and
  get tailored feedback based on your results
• Research The collected data are used by
  scientists, students and schools. You will be
  informed about your rights as a research
  participant.
• Everything is anonymous you will be given a
  barcode bracelet at the fair

At the fair, you will receive.

• A barcode wristband
• and
• An activity booklet to track your progress

Then you scan in and begin!
Every time you visit a different station, you
will scan yourself just like a grocery clerk
scans groceries. Listen for the beep and you
know you have done it right. If it doesnt
beep try holding it further away from the
barcode.

Begin by answering 5 basic questions

• Age
• Gender
• Race
• Ethnicity
• Enter your unique code from the pre-fair survey.
  Instructions are provided.
• The material you receive and your health
  recommendations are tailored for you based on
  your age and gender.

Diet Assessment Survey

• 5-7 minute diet screener that tells you your
• fruit vegetable intake
• dairy intake
• added sugars

Body Composition

• Learn about your body measurements (height,
  weight, BMI, body fat, waist circumference)
• Everything done behind a privacy screen
• Receive immediate feedback about how you compare
  to national recommendations. Recommendations
  change every month until youre 20!

• 3 different surveys to chose from which measure
• Sleep quality (5 min)
• Chronotype (morning/eveningness) (2 min)

Bitter Taste Test

• Are you a supertaster? Taste a strip of paper to
  find out if you can detect the bitter-tasting
  chemical on it.
• 1 out of 4 people can not taste it.

Cancer Risk Behaviors Assessment

• 4 Options!
• 2 short surveys about skin and lung cancer risk
  behaviors.
• Video game about UV exposure
• Mole microscope
• For 13 and over, breast cancer education (not at
  school events)
• Receive immediate, tailored feedback about cancer
  risk based on your behaviors

• Educational game about how our choices affect our
  DNA (15 min)

Memory

• Computer game that asks individuals to remember
  the order and location that blocks are
  highlighted. More and more blocks are added on
  successive levels
• Test measures visuospatial memory. (If youve
  ever lost your keys and had to retrace your
  steps, this is very similar!)
