WP 1 Extreme thermohaline, storm waves and surge
events Task 1.3 Extreme sea level (floods) study
in the coastal zone of Russia
2
Task 1.3 Work schedule for 2011
? The main content of the work Expected results Term of execution
1 Development a sea level Database for selected areas in the Baltic Sea Sea level database for Baltic Sea creation (especially for Gulf of Finland). We supposed to form multiyear time series of sea level values of 1 hour time step from Russian, Estonian, Finnish and Polish tidal stations. June2011
2 Statistical analysis of the Baltic sea level variability Primary statistical study of the Baltic sea level variability. Estimation of basic spectral structure and spatial distribution energy of surface wave field in the Gulf of Finland. August 2011
3
Task 1.3 Work schedule for 2011
3 Preparation of meteorological data for numerical modeling sea level variability in the Baltic Sea (reanalysis data) To form multiyear array from reanalysis atmospheric pressure and wind over Baltic sea with spatial resolution Dx 100 km and time step Dt 3 hour or less. This time period should cover period of sea level observation from data base (1). December 2011
4 Development a 2-D hydrodynamic numerical model for simulation extreme events (floods) in Baltic sea Development and testing hydrodynamic numerical model forced by atmospheric pressure and wind stress (Princeton Ocean Model and ROMS). December2011
5 Analysis of climatic changes of sea level in the Baltic sea Estimations of sea level trends using multiyear observation along Baltic coast December2011
