  • Rudolf Virchow hypothesized that cells divide to
    form new cells.
  • Light Microscope is often called the brightfield
microscope, because of the bright background.
    Magnifies up to 2,000X.
  • Fluorescence Microscope requires the specimen to
be treated with special fluorescent stain. Which
allows certain cell structures to glow. Magnifies
    up to 1,500X.
  • Phase-contrast Microscope it has the ability to
bend light waves, thereby enhancing light and
dark regions without the use of stains. Magnifies
    up to 1,500X.
  • Scanning Electron Microscope commonly known as
the SEM, sweeps a beam of electrons over a
specimens surface, causing other electrons to be
    emitted. Magnifies up to 200,000X.
  • Transmission Electron Microscope a TEM aims a
beam of electrons through a specimen. Magnifies
    up to 1,000,000X.
