• Implement the 2nd attempt of the retrieval (in
  case non-convergence occurs)
• Develop covariance matrix for rain/ice parameters
  to be used in second attempt
• Set up system so that different parameters (with
  different EOFs) are retrieved in the second
  attempt
• Problem stems from
• If rain/ice covariance matrix used in 1st
  attempt, degradation of clear sky cases

When there is rain/ice

• Non convergence
• Flagged as invalid (by ChiSquare)
• Future
• Converge
• Retrieve hydrometeors parameters (RWP and IWP)
• Retrieve T,Q,SkinT, Emiss as well
• Note
• Although profiles are retrieved. These should not
  be considered for operational use (accuracy not
  high enough in my opinion)

• Potential Help
• Limited use of forecast data for T, Q, SkinT, etc
  (as first guess only) to help retrieval get
  information on hydrometeors profiles
• For rain and snow fall rates
• We need relationships between IWP, RWP, T(?) on
  one hand, and RR and SFR
• SFR may benefit from T information (to
  distinguish water phase)
