2Review Clauses
- To understand certain types of sentences, you
have to understand certain types of clauses, as
studied in our last unit. - Remember an independent clause is a fancy name
for a sentence. - A dependent clause is a group of words that has a
subject and predicate, but cannot stand alone (it
doesnt express a complete thought).

- (Notice how sentence 2 has compound subjects and
- sentence 3 has compound predicates.)
