Rescue workers scrambled around a sunken
passenger ship Tuesday as China grappled with a
disaster in the murky waters of the Yangtze
River. The ship, the Eastern Star, capsized late
Monday in stormy weather as it ferried 458
passengers and crew along the Yangtze that winds
through China. Thus far, only 15 survivors and
five bodies have been recovered. Divers plunged
into the river, and rescue workers gathered along
part of the vessel's upturned hull that was
sticking out of the water. They knocked on the
body of the almost completely submerged ship and
heard responses from inside. Welders are
apparently trying to cut the cabin open. The
captain and chief engineer have been taken into
custody for questioning by police. River cruises
along the Yangtze are popular among both Chinese
and international tourists. The Yangtze is the
third-longest river in the world.

• Vanity Fair tweeted its latest cover Monday,
  starring the former Bruce Jenner, now called
  Caitlyn. Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz shot
  the first images of Jenner in her Malibu home for
  the upcoming issue. The photos accompany an
  article written by "Friday Night Lights" author
  Buzz Bissinger. Jenner also started a Twitter
  account, which reached 1 million followers in
  Guinness World Record time -- 4 hours and 3
  minutes.
• A U.S. woman on a safari outside Johannesburg was
  attacked and killed by a lion Monday. Her
  companion was hurt trying to fight off the
  animal, but he is expected to survive. The two
  were on a self-drive tour when the lion attacked.
  Their windows were open.
• El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain, won top
  prize at the prestigious 2015 World's 50 Best
  Restaurant awards, held June 1 in London. The
  top rated spot in the United States was New
  York's swanky Eleven Madison Park (5th overall).
