Title: Rounding to the Nearest 10 (Larger Numbers)
1Rounding to the Nearest 10(Larger Numbers)
2Rounding to the Nearest 10
- Decide
- Which two tens is the number between
- Which ten is it nearest to
3Rounding to the Nearest 10
- Rules
- If it ends in numbers 1 to 4 round to the ten
before - If it ends in numbers 6 to 9, round to the ten
after - If it ends in 5 (which is half way between two
tens) always round up to the higher ten
4Rounding to the Nearest 10
- Example 1
- Round off 134
- It is between 130 and 140
- It ends in 4, so it rounds down to 130
- (You only have to go back 4 to get to 130, but
you would have to go forward 6 to get to 140)
5Rounding to the Nearest 10
- Example 2
- Round off 357
- It is between 350 and 360
- It ends in 7, so it rounds up to 360
- (You only have to go forward 3 to get to 360, but
you would have to go back 7 to get to 350)
6Rounding to the Nearest 10
- Example 3
- Round off 575
- It is between 570 and 580
- It ends in 5, so it rounds up to 580
- (The rule is that when it ends in 5, it is half
way between the two tens, so you always round up
to the higher ten)
