to their behavior.

• ASD involves difficulty attending to social
  information.

This is a developmental skillYoung children
pick their noses, touch themselves in private
places, and pass gas freely in front of others.

Given that it is a developmental skill, it makes
sense to

• Refrain from repetitive scolding if this has not
  worked.
• Not rely on subtle, disapproving looks.
• Try patience and teaching.

Try using a scale to teach!

• 5 This is shocking to everyone. Do this in
  your own bedroom with the door closed!
  (masturbation)
• 4 This is upsetting to just about everyone. Do
  in private. (scratching private parts)
• 3 This is upsetting to many people, especially
  adults. (farting and excessive laughing)
• 2 This makes people uncomfortable. (nose
  picking)
• 1 This doesnt really bother anyone. (humming
  very quietly)
• Pick your battles!
