4To conjugate a regular AR verb in the preterite
- Remove the AR to form the stem.
- Add the appropriate ending to match the subject.

Él, ella, Usted -ó Ellos, Ellas, Ustedes -aron

- Verbs ending in car, -gar, and zar have
irregular endings in the yo form only. - Car -qué The spelling change
- Gar -gué only occurs in the yo
- Zar -cé form to keep the sound.
