  • Longitude lines are not parallel.
  • The Prime Meridian which passes through
    Greenwich, UK is 0o longitude.
  • The highest longitude is 180o. This is also the
    International Dateline.

  • There are 360o in a circle and the Earth rotates
    one full turn on its axis every 24 hours.
  • Therefore in one hour the Earth rotates 360/24
    15o.
  • If a place is 30o east of your location, local
    time will be 2 hours later.
  • If a place is 30o west of your location, local
    time will be 2 hours earlier.
