Human Environment Interaction
Adaptation The Philippines are many islands that
are not connected. For people to travel from one
island to the other they need to travel by boat.
This makes it difficult to go from island to
island because most islands dont have all of the
supplies needed. Especially for transporting
goods, it makes it harder and it takes longer for
them to be moved.
Modify Humans have changed the environment
because they have built homes on the islands.
They have also built cities, roads, and drive
cars, boats, and buses.
7
Movement
Transportation Most people (middle class) own
cars but the rest rely of public transportation.
There are buses, taxis, and jeepneys. Jeepneys
are buses that are built off of old US military
jeeps that transport people throughout the
cities. They also have boats for inter-island
movement and airplanes to get out of the country.
Airplanes, boats, and trucks transport goods from
island to island.
Service is not extensive in rural places and
between islands. Middle-class homes usually have
phones if service is available in the area. Cell
phones are becoming more and more popular. They
also have computers with internet and television
as well as newspapers.
8
Region
People that live near or on the same island of
volcanoes live differently than people who dont
live on the islands with volcanoes. When you live
close to volcanoes you have to have evacuations
and take certain precautions so you dont get
killed or burned when they erupt.
