18HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
- JUL-AUG 2004 US launches Operation HIGHLAND
WARRIOR. TF HIGHLANDER successfully destroys PLA
and Atlantican Advisors in AO BUCKNER. US forces
are well received due to humane execution of
combat operations. PLA disperses into urban areas
vic Highland Falls and West Point. DIABLO
elements remain primary threat with remnants of
PLA forces - SEP-DEC 2004 West Point and Highland Falls
were relatively untouched by the war. DIABLO, PLA
and foreign fighters assumed control of West
Point. West Point is a sacred city to Cortinian
and Atlanticans. Battle Monument is a holy
shrine as it commemorates the dead from the 1680
battle with Spanish Conquistadores - DEC 2004 TF HIGHLANDER (brigade) receives
order to conduct combat operations in AO WEST
POINT.
