Classical Conditioning

• Something otherwise meaningless becomes linked to
  a meaningful experience and therefore causes same
  response as the original experience on its own.

Reflexes hardwired into brain

• Unconditioned stimulus a situation that
  produces a response without prior learning
• For example you are cold

• Unconditioned Response is unlearned and it is
  automatically associated with the unconditioned
  stimulus.
• For example you get goose bumps.

• Conditioned Stimulus a previously neutral
  situation that causes the conditioned response
  after being associated with the unconditioned
  situation (CS).
• For example class bell

• Conditioned Response - learned behavior to a
  conditioned stimulus that occurs after a
  relationship has been created between CS and US
  (CR).
• For example you know class is over when the
  bell rings.

Operant Conditioning B.F. Skinner consequence
changes behavior

• Reinforcement a consequence that increase the
  likelihood of a behavior occurring.

• Punishment a consequence that decreases the
  likelihood of a behavior occurring.
