Intro

• The Problem
• As people age they get forgetful, health worsens,
  family/friends not always accessible.
• difficult to remember routine tasks
• Ex Alzheimers patient forgets to pay electric
  bill, electric company takes away light
• Here is where our product comes in, a reminder
  system to help senior citizens get towards
  leading a more self sufficient life

• Intended Users Older adults with memory problems
• Requirements
• Small portable PDA like device made for running
  SDA
• Input Methods keyboard and handwriting
  recognition via stylus
• Main Goal Interface easy to use

Usability Test Subjects

• 6 users, ages 47-61
• age illness related memory problems
• most not tech savvy
• only 1 uses an electronic memory aid currently
  (phone)
• most users find learning most tech gadgets too
  complex, but willing to make switch from manual
  to electronic if it makes task significantly
  easier

  Task list
• Remove item from Finished Task list
• Add new item to Unfinished Task list
• View all Reminders
• Add a new Reminder

Usability Test Results

• General Problems lack of labels, inconsistent
  naming, ambiguous labels, not enough help, not
  easy to use
• Problems in sections main screen sections, to do
  Edit button, editing reminders and attach
  reminder
• Additional Features more options in frequency of
  reminder, other discussed in conclusion

Conclusion Future Work

• Current Status Were able to make many of the
  changes users wanted, and it seemed to make a
  huge difference as indicated by expert review.
  (ex. add more labels, help, change labels, remove
  confusing fields from reminders)
• Future Calendar View- icons for tasks, how busy
  day is, critical tasks (color icons)
• Future Allow family caregivers to interact
  with system as well. (view, edit, add reminders
  and check on critical tasks)
